One Day in Carpinteria
This 18"x14"x.75" oil on gallery-wrapped canvas was a perfect camping day in Carpinteria, California.
This view was taken from our trailer door as we were backed into the most amazing spot in the Carpinteria State Beach Campground. That night at 10:00pm, a state ranger banged on our door and said we would have to evacuate the next day due to incoming storms. They explained that double-digit waves were expected which could be as high as our trailer. So, the next morning we packed it up and drove home...
...but we had this one perfect day!
Ventura Sunset
This 14"x11"x1.5" oil on gallery-wrapped canvas with sides painted into the scene is explaining the brilliance of the sunset on the waves. The Rincon is a camping area established on old Highway 1 PCH and while camping there, this was about the 5:00pm hour on the Pacific coast. The sunsets here are remarkable as you can see just a glimmer of the Santa Cruz Islands in the distant horizon.
California Gray Barn with Poppies
12"x9" - Oil on canvas board
On a recent trip to Solvang, California as you drive northwest, you find beautiful vineyards, wineries and rolling hills. The small town of Los Olivos has wine tasting and unique sandwich shops and with all this agriculture, barns and horses are at every turn of the highway. I added my own creative touches with a tire tree swing from my childhood and golden orange poppies everywhere being the California state flower and they grow wild.
Gulf Islands Sea Oats
An original 11" x 14" oil on canvas painting of the beautiful Gulf Islands National Seashore with its sparkly white sands and tall subtropical grass called sea oats. Sea oats are a very important protector of the beaches and shores to bind the sand from erosion. Not only are they necessary, but they are also a beautiful facet of many miles of coastland.
Monterey Pines
11'x14' - oil on canvas
Old PCH Ventura Emma Wood Cutoff
16"x20" - Oil on canvas.
This painting is from our camping trip to the Rincon of Ventura County. I took the reference photo while driving to our campsite which is part of old highway 1 and you can see the new 101 freeway above. Its a beautiful, peaceful place to camp with 30' of oceanfront as your front yard. This deserved its own painting.
The Shack ~ Mandeville, LA
12" x 16" - Oil on canvas.
From my teen years spent growing up on the north shore of Lake Pontchartrain in Mandeville, LA. Many days enjoying the sun and swimming in this lake and those brave enough would swim to this Shack and jump from the top ~ a right of passage. Sadly, Katrina took the Shack from us all so I felt the need to paint my interpretation of it and offer giclee prints to those who remember fondly.
California Incline - Santa Monica
16"x20"- An original oil on canvas painting-
Painted from a moment in time while stopped at this legendary intersection on PCH Hwy 1 in Santa Monica, CA. The California Incline takes you right up to Ocean Ave near Wilshire Blvd.
The orange VW bus is a personal touch as we've owned several and they can still be seen alive and running on the west coast.
Florida Beach and a Bench
12" x 12" - Oil on canvas.
Mabel in her Meadow
12' x 16' - Oil on Canvas.
Mabel is a real jersey cow who lives in the most beautiful green meadow of the PNW. She is my doctor's cow and has the sweetest personality and tries to be mother to all. I truly felt this about her when painting her features.

Space 60 ~ Laguna Crystal Cove
9" x 12" - Oil on Canvas.
This is our trailer in the coveted Space #60 in El Moro Campground in Laguna, CA. We saw it featured in Sunset Magazine with an Airstream and just had to book the site. Highway 1, though not visible, is just down below, but this site makes you feel like you are on top of the world. Beautiful scenery and glimpses of sea life with Crystal Cove Beach just underneath and through a tunnel.
West Coast Wave Enhanced Giclee
This is a beautiful 8"x10" Fine art paper giclee that I have enhanced with acrylic paint to create this original art work. I then adhere the giclee with acid-free gel to a cradled wood frame and then paint the 1/2" wood border to match the art.
This technique has the look of an original painting. It surely is a one-of-a-kind artwork that can hang on its own or you can decide to put in a frame to enlarge the presence of this art piece.
Best Seafood in Malibu
12" x 12" - Oil on canvas. Giclee fine art prints available.
In Malibu, California on Hwy 1, is our favorite place to stop and enjoy the best fish n chips or fresh grilled fish along with a mesmerizing view.
Atop the orange and pink umbrellas is an open air dining room with the most enchanting view of the Pacific ocean teaming with wildlife ~ pelicans, seagulls, schools of dolphin, sail boats and so much more which makes this place unique and a special place to be!
Gift of Life
10" x 10" original oil on gallery-wrapped-canvas.
**Shown here are Giclee fine art prints of the original painting printed on Moab bright paper in 10"x10" prints ~~ same size as original painting.
This painting was a gift to a midwife/Doula who helped bring a beautiful baby girl into our world.
Space 60 ~ Laguna Crystal Cove
9" x 12" - Oil on Canvas.
Family Homestead Alabama
This is a very quaint 11"x14" oil on canvas board. When I see these mail boxes and the beautiful oak tree, I feel at home visiting my sister's house in the countryside of Alabama.
Swampland with Creatures
30"x24" - Oil on gallery-wrapped canvas with 1.25" sides painted into scene.
This was a gift to my daughter who requested a green painting. She wanted something in the style of the masterpainter George Innes. I said oh, is that all. So, with much courage, you will see a story evolving in this painting with a dead rat, her cat Rasputin, an owl, many bats, and the man in the boat discovering something amiss in the woods with a man running into the deep brush. What is up ~~ its your story!
A Day at the Lake
11"x14" - Oil on Canvas.
I participated in an artist challenge by NOAPS
(National Oil & Acrylic Painters Society) for artists to paint the same reference photo and post to #noapsartchallenge. It was delightful to see all the interpretations of the same reference photo. Go to the hashtag and see which one is your favorite.
